The Inter-State Council, a committee that probes and gives suggestions on disputes between states, has been reconstituted with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as its chairman and nine Union Ministers and all Chief Ministers its members.

Senior ministers Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, JP Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Nirmala Sitharaman, Manohar Lal Khattar, Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lalan and K Rammohan Naidu are members of the council.

While Rajiv Ranjan of the JD(U) and Naidu (TDP) are part of the main panel, JD(S)’ HD Kumaraswamy, Hindustani Awami Morcha (HAM-S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi and LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan—all part of the NDA and central ministers—are among 13 union ministers who have been included as permanent invitees.

Nitin Gadkari, S Jaishankar, Piyush Goyal, Dharmendra Pradhan, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Kiren Rijiju, Bhupender Yadav, G Kishan Reddy and CR Patil are also permanent invitees.
