The court of Additional Sessions Judge Tarun Singal has sentenced two convicts to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1.20 lakh on them for killing a PG house operator in 2021.
The convicts, Manish and Lucky, had shot the victim dead over an altercation when the latter had asked for their identity cards.
According to the police, they received an information on May 5, 2021 that a PG operator was shot dead in Islampur village. The deceased was identified as Sandeep Kumar (35) of Kheri Sampla in Rohtak.
According to the complaint filed by Gaurav, a resident of Deroli Jat village in Mahendragarh district, he and his friend Sandeep were running a PG facility in Islampur village. Manish, a resident of Salhawas, and Lucky, alias Jontu, a resident of Matanhel, had been staying there for the past six months. They had neither submitted their ID proofs nor were depositing the rent on time.
“When we asked them for the ID proofs, they threatened to kill us. Around 11.30 pm, Lucky came there and fired gunshots at Sandeep. When we tried to catch him, he fired again and the bullet hit the floor. Lucky got injured and he fled away. Meanwhile, Manish came there carrying two pistols. He fired gunshots at us and a bullet hit Sandeep’s chest. Following this, Manish also fled away. We rushed Sandeep to a hospital, where the doctors declared him dead,” Gaurav had said in his complaint.
Following the complaint, an FIR was registered at the Sadar police station and Manish and Lucky were arrested. They were sent to judicial custody after being produced in a city court.
After arresting them, the police team investigated the case and collected all necessary evidence and witnesses against them and presented them in the court, they added.
“On the basis of the chargesheet filed by the Gurugram police in the court and the evidence and witnesses collected by the police, the court of Additional Sessions Judge Tarun Singal on Wednesday sentenced both of them to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1.20 lakh on them,” said a spokesperson of the Gurugram police.
