Six masked bikers tried to rob a petrol pump employee, Sonu (28), who was commuting on the College Road railway overbridge at about 10.30 pm last night. As he did not have cash, the attackers injured him badly and fled away. He was today admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment.

The City-1 police said that the medico legal report has been received and the statement of the injured youth would be recorded for further action.

The victim said he was returning to his Waryam Nagar residence after duty hours at a petrol pump that is located a few metres away from the police station.

At around 10.30 pm, when he reached the College Road bridge, six masked men on two bikes were standing there. They forcibly stopped his bike and asked for money.

When he explained that he did not have cash, the miscreants attacked and injured him badly and fled away. He somehow reached home after which his family took him to the hospital today.
