Perturbed over harassment, girl ends life

Perturbed over harassment by a youth, a 19-year-old girl ended her life by consuming some poisonous substance in Khabbe Rajputa village in Mehta. The suspect was identified as Jashandeep Singh of Ghuman village. He has been booked for alleged abetment to suicide. A case under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered against him in this regard.

Keval Singh, father of the victim Pawandeep Kaur, alleged that Jashandeep was putting pressure on his daughter for marriage. He alleged that the suspect harassed her repeatedly. Kewal said the suspect used to call on Pawandeep’s sister-in-law’s mobile phone, and asked her to let him talk to her.

He said perturbed over this, his daughter consumed some poisonous substance yesterday. Pawandeep was rushed to Guru Nanak Dev Hospital where she died during treatment, he said. The police said efforts were on to nab the suspect .
