People tired of BJP’s false promises, says Supriya Shrinate

Facing widespread public anger over alleged misrule during the past 10 years, the BJP is likely to lose Haryana the upcoming Assembly elections, with the Congress poised to secure a sweeping victory. This was stated by Supriya Shrinate, national spokesperson for the Congress and AICC secretary, while addressing the media here on Monday.

Shrinate, who holds the charge of media for South Haryana, expressed confidence that the Congress would win at least 70 seats in the state Assembly, ousting the current BJP government. She emphasised that schemes like Agnipath, which she claimed had taken away permanent employment in the defence forces and marginalised the youth, would be scrapped, as the Congress is committed to protecting the interests of the younger generation.

Shrinate accused the BJP of causing hardship to every section of society during its 10-year rule, particularly targeting women, youth and farmers. According to her, the people of Haryana have been among the most victimised and are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to settle the score at the ballot box. She also highlighted the government’s efforts to suppress the farmers’ protest demanding a Minimum Support Price (MSP).

She questioned the moral grounds on which the BJP was seeking a third term, pointing out that the party’s leaders seem unable to justify their actions over the past decade. She further claimed that the BJP changed its CM candidate out of the fear of an imminent loss.

“People are tired of hollow slogans and broken promises. They’ve decided to overthrow a government that has failed to deliver,” Shrinate added. She also accused one of the BJP’s candidates in the district of facing corruption charges, which she said contradicts the ruling party’s claim of providing corruption-free governance.

Highlighting Congress’s campaign promises, she reaffirmed the party’s commitment to providing government jobs to lakhs of youth each year, a pension of Rs 6,000, free electricity up to 300 units, a health cover of Rs 25 lakh, free residential plots for the poor, revival of the old pension scheme and the enhancement of Metro rail connectivity in the region.
