The Himachal Pradesh Pensioners’ Welfare Association here today met Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and submitted a memorandum to him regarding their long-standing demands. The minister listened to the grievances of the pensioners and assured them that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu would consider their demands after returning to the state.

Besides the payment of pension on the first day of the month, the pensioners demanded the constitution of a joint consultative committee (JCC) and the payment of pending arrears. They warned the state government that they would gherao Congress MLAs and ministers and protest during its public programmes if their demands were not fulfilled till Dasehra. They said that they would stage a protest in Shimla.
