PCMSA docs suspend few services

As a prelude to the call of indefinite suspension of services from September 9, the Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) today suspended a few of the services offered by specialists. Doctors did not attend any meetings, training sessions, no enquires were listened and no other reporting apart from checking the patients was done.

The PCMSA has embarked on a mission to safeguard the public healthcare services of the state and in this direction, we aim to proactively engage with the government in addressing the core issues concerning the state healthcare.
“With the prime focus on retaining maximum number of PCMS medical officials for catering to the healthcare needs of the poorest of the poor, it is imperative that the government pragmatically resolves the issue of high attrition/low retention of medical officers by effectively addressing the inherent resentment and discontent in the cadre. The two major demands include stalling of assured career progressions since 2021, pending 6th CPC arrears, amongst other demands,” said Akhil Sareen, state president, PCMS Association, Punjab.
He added that general emergency and specialist services should be strengthened and recruitment of regular PCMS doctors should be done. Another major demand of the doctors is to provide 24x7 security service to them.
