A talent identification programme will be conducted by the Cycling Federation of India in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India on August 4.

The convener of the programme, Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, said it was being conducted with the objective of connecting the youth with sports, especially cycling. Those selected will be sent to the academies of the Cycling Federation of India, where their accommodation, food, training would be provided free of cost. Boys and girls (12 to 14 years) born in 2010, 2011 and 2012 from Sangrur, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Malerkotla, Fatehgarh Sahib districts adjacent to Patiala district can participate.

Athletes will have to pass the standing broad jump, high jump (vertical) and 1,600 metre for boys and 800 metre race for girls. The trials will held at Polo Ground on August 4 from 7 am to 6 pm. Players should bring their age proof certificate and four passport size photographs.
