Rectify ‘blind spots’ before foggy season, says DC
Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav has directed the departments concerned to rectify “blind spots” causing accidents across the district.
She presided over the District Road Safety Committee meeting today.
All departments constructing roads should also ensure that their bridges are safe and submit certificates in this regard, she said.
Dr Yadav said since many accidents occur due to fog in winter, the blind spots should be rectified before the foggy season. Steps such as drawing white lines, installing “cat-eye” reflectors and flags on the roadside and pruning trees should be taken.
The District Road Safety Committee emphasised creating awareness among people about road safety rules, including the Angel Scheme under, under which those who take injured people to the hospital are felicitated.
It also stressed the proper implementation the safe school vehicle scheme and taking stringent action with regard to drunk driving and driving by minors.
