Punjabi University, Patiala admn ink pact

Punjabi University, Patiala, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the district administration, Patiala, under which the university will be able to collect the administration’s data for research and analysis purposes and conduct counselling sessions in various government-owned institutions in areas of drug de-addiction, geriatric population (old age homes) and disability counselling.
The MoU was signed by Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney and Punjabi University Registrar Prof Navjot Kaur in the presence of HoD, Psychology, Prof Mamta Sharma, and ADC (Urban Development) Gautam Jain and others.
Sakshi Sawhney said through the MoU, the Department of Psychology would carry out periodic counselling and research-related works and give suitable suggestions for improving the efficiency and functioning of institutions under its institutional social responsibility (ISR).
Registrar Prof Navjot Kaur said through the MoU, the Deputy Commissioner’s office would offer internship to approximately 30 postgraduate and diploma students of the department for two months in a year. Prof Mamta Sharma said it was the first-of-its-kind MoU through which the district administration and Department of Psychology, Punjabi University, would work together to enhance the well-being of students of government-owned institutions.
