Punjabi University Class B, C staff protest delay in salaries

Class B and C employees of Punjabi University also joined the protest over delay in the disbursal of salaries on the campus here today.
Employees associated with the Punjabi University Employees’ (Class B and C) Association holding a protest outside the Vice-Chancellor’s office said the university should have disbursed their salaries by now, but it failed to do so.
They said the protest was held from 10 am to 11.30 am on the second day today. GPF amount had also not been credited to the employees’ account. They would intensify their protest if the administration failed to disburse their salaries at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the university has become a hotspot for protests. Class B and C employees are holding a protest, along with a faction of professors, over delay in the disbursal of salaries. Employees associated with the Punjabi University Teachers’ Association also held a month-long protest against the university’s inability to disburse salaries recently.
Punjab Finance Dept to meet officials today
Patiala: The Finance Department, Punjab, will hold a meeting over the financial condition of Punjabi University here on Wednesday. The university has also been told to first clear the matters related to the observations of the CAG report before any grant is provided by the state government. The university’s financial condition is in the limelight since long as it had been falling short of funds to disburse salaries to employees. It has also resorted to seeking loans from banks and exhausted the limits. Meanwhile, looking at the financial conditions of the university, the Finance Department has decided to hold a meeting with its officials. Officials on the campus confirmed the development. Registrar Dr Yograj said he would not comment on the same as he had not seen the official letter yet. TNS
