Pollution control board launches poster campaign to curb e-waste
Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) Chairman Adarshpal Vig unveiled a new awareness poster “Erase E-Waste, Before It Erases You” to address the growing concern of electronic waste.
Speaking on the occasion, Vig highlighted the environmental and health risks posed by e-waste due to the rapid advancement of science and technology and the increased availability of affordable electronic devices.
“Improper disposal of e-waste has become a significant threat to human health and environment. Timely intervention is crucial to prevent further harm,” he stated.
Vig urged individuals, industries and all stakeholders involved in the lifecycle of electronic devices to ensure proper disposal of e-waste through registered facilities. He emphasised that e-waste should not be mixed with household garbage. The poster launch was attended by key officials, including Member Secretary G.S. Majithia, Chief Environmental Engineers Rajeev Goel and Lavneet Dubey, Senior Law Officer Amrik Singh and other officers from the E-Waste Management Cell.
The initiative underlines the PPCB’s commitment to raising awareness about the scientific disposal of e-waste and its management as a vital step toward environmental sustainability.
