A city-based police officer, Vikas Sabharwal, AIG, Election Cell, Punjab, has been awarded with the Director General of Police (DGP) Commendation Disc in recognition of his efforts made on duty. He is among eight officers who were picked up for the award.

“These officers had worked hard during the recent times, including the recently concluded Panchayat poll and Vidhan Sabha bypoll. Some of them worked round-the-clock to ensure law and order is maintained,” said a senior police officer.

Sabharwal is the son of 93-year-old Pran Sabharwal who is an established name in the field of theatre and has been awarded Padma Shri.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising five eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
