Patiala District tops Punjab in paddy lifting

Over 2,00,677 metric tonne (MT) of harvested paddy crop has been lifted from the district’s grain markets. Administrative officials said the district was at the forefront in the state in paddy lifting.
They said they were making great efforts to lift the farmers’ produce from the grain markets. Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney said the administration was lifting paddy from 109 grain markets. The DC said, “We have recorded an average of 45 MT of lifted paddy grain. This number is the highest in the state.”
She added that the procurement agencies have lifted 2,00,677 MT of paddy across the grain markets so far.
The amount of paddy that has been lifted includes 93,607 MT by PUNGRAIN, 41,114 MT by Markfed, 43,633 MT by PUNSUP and 22,323 MT by Punjab Warehouse Corporation.
