Patiala celebrates 75th Republic Day

The 75th Republic Day was celebrated in the city with fervour and a spirit of patriotism on Friday. Various educational and government organisations held special functions to celebrate the day. The events began with the unfurling of the national flag, which was followed by tributes to the martyrs who laid their lives during the freedom struggle and defending the country against aggression, concluding with cultural performances.
Transmission corporation
Nem Chand, director (admin) of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited, unfurled the national flag to mark the day. Director (tech) Vardeep Singh and director (F&C) Vinod Kumar Bansal were the guests of honour. During the function, Nem Chand distributed several awards, including for the best managed grid substation, best managed transmission line, best green substation and best employees. A cultural programme was put up by the families of employees and children from Vani Integrated School for Hearing Impaired.

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) celebrated the 75th Republic Day at its headquarters. PSPCL director (admin) Jasbir Singh Dhillon Sursingh unfurled the national flag and said the day was important because it is the date on which the Constitution came into effect. He urged PSPCL employees to perform their duties sincerely to honour the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. He paid homage to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
JGND PSOU
Vice-Chancellor Karamjeet Singh unfurled the Tricolour to open the Republic Day function at the Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGND PSOU), Patiala. He highlighted the significance of the day and paid homage to freedom fighters and the framers of our Constitution. He also praised the role women played in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi.
Patiala Locomotive Works
The Republic Day was celebrated in an atmosphere charged with national pride and patriotism at the Patiala Locomotive Works (PLW). Principal Chief Administrative Officer Pramod Kumar hoisted the national flag and took the salute at a march-past by a Railway Protection Force (RPF) contingent. PLW officers, staff and their families were present in large numbers. The jubilant atmosphere was enhanced by a cultural programme by Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 students and a PLW cultural team. During his address, Pramod Kumar discussed the achievements of PLW, highlighting that the organisation achieved a production value of Rs 2,180 crores in just nine months last year. Additionally, the sale of scrap brought in an impressive Rs 16.35 croreduring this period.
PPS, Nabha
Amidst a patriotic atmosphere, the 75th Republic Day was celebrated at Punjab Public School (PPS), Nabha, with enthusiasm. Headmaster DC Sharma, in the presence of the three wings of NCC, unfurled the Tricolour and inspected the guard of honour. Gurleen Kaur, Mannat Tangri and Gurmanpreet Kaur expressed their thoughts on the relevance of the day in English, Hindi and Punjabi, respectively, while Tejasveer Badyal compered the event. Dr Sharma emphasised the importance of imbibing the values enshrined in the Constitution.
RGNUL
The Diamond Jubilee of the Indian Republic was celebrated at Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) on Friday. The event commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Vice-Chancellor Anand Pawar, followed by the singing of the national anthem. Addressing the gathering, he paid tributes to the makers of the Constitution, stressing the importance of its ideals and constitutional morality. He also stressed the importance of women’s empowerment, highlighting the contribution of the 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly in drafting the Constitution.
