Patiala: ‘Adopt Cleanliness, Avoid Disease’ drive launched
Patiala, July 28
The MC, under the leadership of Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal, launched a special campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of dengue and diarrhoea.
The initiative titled ‘Adopt Cleanliness, Avoid Disease,’ began today and aims to protect the city from disease outbreaks during the monsoon. Primary goal is to safeguard the city from the surge of diseases caused by stagnant water, which can lead to dengue, diarrhea, malaria and chikungunya. He mentioned that special teams had been dispatched to identify hotspots in the city where the risk of disease was high.
These teams are engaging with the public to educate them about necessary precautions to stay safe. They collect water samples for testing, provide suggestions for disease prevention and distribute free medicines like ORS for emergencies. A street play was organised at Gurdwara Badungar, where a drama group highlighted the importance of early disease treatment and cleanliness.
Social worker Jatwinder Garewal remarked that drama was a powerful medium that reaches people’s hearts and delivers impactful messages. He emphasised that this campaign played a crucial role in promoting cleanliness and safety among the public.
The initiative received widespread appreciation from the attendees, who pledged to keep their homes and surroundings clean. Members of various social organisations also participated, playing a key role in educating the public about the importance of cleanliness in preventing diseases.
