The rejection of nomination papers of a few Panchayat poll contestants owing political allegiance triggered a protest by parties today.

The BJP Mahila Morcha president, Jai Inder Kaur, led a protest outside the Sanaur BDPO office here. She accused the AAP-led Punjab Government of manipulating the election process.

“The AAP government’s actions are a blatant assault on democracy,” she said. “By misusing state machinery to reject Opposition candidates’ nominations, they are denying the people of Punjab their right to a fair election,” she added.

She urged the Punjab State Election Commission to intervene and ensure a free and fair electoral process.

“We will continue to fight for the rights of our candidates and the people, ensuring democracy prevails. We demand that the State Election Commission takes concrete steps to restore people’s trust in the electoral process.”

She said if the matter would not be resolved, the party would move the Punjab and Haryana High Court (HC).

She said, “We will exhaust all legal avenues to ensure justice is served and democracy upheld.”

Jai Inder Kaur was accompanied by several party workers and candidates from villages of Sanaur.
