Online national lecture series on literary explorations organised

Students of Department of English and Foreign Languages of Khalsa College, Patiala, participated in an online National Lecture Series titled ‘Literary Explorations: A Collaborative Lecture Series’.
Khalsa College, Patiala, had signed an MOU with Sophia Girls’ College (Autonomous), Ajmer, Rajasthan. Under the MOU, English Departments of Khalsa College, Sophia Girls’ College and three other colleges, who had also signed the MOU, organised the online lecture series. It is a national level student exchange programme, in which students can procure five certificates if they score 60 per cent marks in the quiz organised after the lecture. BA (honours) English and MA English students participated in the lecture series.
The second lecture of the series was delivered by Sahar Rahman, associate professor, Department of English, Patna Women’s College, Bihar, titled ‘Postcolonialism and Neocolonialism’. In the lecture, Sahar Rahman discussed the various concepts related to postcolonialism and neocolonialism. She threw light on the historical aspects of colonialisation and the impact of neocolonialism on underdeveloped countries. She elaborated on topics such as globalisation, Americanisation, hybridity, ambivalence, mimicry and cultural imperialism.
Dharminder Singh Ubha, principal, GSSDGS Khalsa College, Patiala, said these lectures are beneficial for students as they help to gain knowledge about the diverse trends emerging in English Literature.
Jaspreet Kaur, Dean Languages and Head of the Department of English and Foreign Languages, GSSDGS Khalsa College, expressed her happiness over the efforts made by the faculty members of the department in making this national series a success.
