Patiala MC poll: AAP unveils 5 guarantees
The state Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today launched its campaign for the Municipal Corporation elections here.
The ruling party announced five major guarantees for the comprehensive development of the city with focus on improving public transportation, ensuring safety, providing clean water, modernising waste management and easing traffic congestion.
State party president Aman Arora addressed a press conference here today. The following are the key guarantees.
Modern, clean public transportation
The party promises to improve the public transport system by introducing 50 electric buses. Depots and charging stations will be built across the city. Dedicated parking facilities will be created to reduce traffic congestion and provide safe spaces for women and children. Electric buses will also address the issue of pollution.
Ensuring public safety through technology
Safety and security will be strengthened by installing CCTV cameras at key locations. These cameras will be integrated with a modern control centre to ensure real-time monitoring and quick response. AAP will also develop a huge parking facility near the bus stand.
Rs 100 crore for STPs
To solve the growing waste and pollution issues, AAP will invest ?100 crore in upgrading sewage treatment plants (STPs). These plants will be modernised to operate effectively and contribute to a clean and pollution-free Patiala.
Upgrading roads, easing traffic congestion
The party has stated that new roads would be constructed and the damaged stretches repaired across the city. Arora said the four-laning of the Rajpura-Sirhind link road would be expedited. The party’s vision for the city prioritises modern infrastructure, safety and clean services. The party’s leadership highlighted its commitment to providing people-centric governance and ensuring that every promise is delivered transparently.
24×7 water supply for every household
Recognising the need for a reliable water supply, AAP has guarantees 24×7 access to clean and safe drinking water for every household in Patiala. Its plan includes modernising the water supply system to ensure uninterrupted service.
Aman Arora, addressing the issue of water scarcity, announced a detailed plan to enhance the water supply infrastructure in the city. The capacity of the existing water treatment plants will be increased and new ones will be built at strategic locations to ensure an uninterrupted water supply.
Arora specifically mentioned that the city’s water supply capacity will be significantly expanded with new treatment plants coming up in areas such as Sher Majra and Sanaur. He emphasised this initiative will resolve the persistent water shortage faced by residents and ensure that every household in the city has access to 24×7 clean and safe drinking water.
