Man arrested with heroin in Sirhind

The CIA staff arrested a peddler and recovered 100 gram of heroin from his possession.
Rakesh Yadav, SP (Investigation), said a team of the CIA staff on patrol duty intercepted a person on suspicion near the main bus stand of Sirhind town. He said as the police started enquiring about his presence and asked him to show his Aadhaar card, he did not respond to the queries and tried to run away.
The SP said the police team overpowered him and during his search, 100 gram of heroin was found on him. During preliminary interrogation, he revealed his identity as Sanjeev Singh, a resident of Araiyan Wala village in Faridkot district.
A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act was registered against him.
The police said the suspect admitted that he used to supply heroin to youngsters in Fatehgarh Sahib, Ropar and Mohali districts. The cop said during further interrogation, his forward and backward linkages would be investigated.
Meanwhile, the SP said during a checking of vehicles, the police intercepted a car and recovered 18 bottles of whisky with the mark “Meant for sale in Chandigarh”. He said the police took both car occupants, identified as Rajpal Singh and Gagandeep Singh, residents of Khanna, into custody.
