Homage paid to police martyrs
The district police paid homage to martyrs on the occasion of National Police Commemoration Day here this morning.
Speaking at an event organised to mark the day at Police Lines, DIG (Patiala range) Mandeep Singh Sidhu said the Punjab Police were capable of responding to anti-national forces and “nobody would be allowed to disrupt peace and unity of the nation”. He paid respects to the martyrs of the police and paramilitary forces.
The DIG said the day was observed in the memory of 10 CRPF personnel, who were killed by the Chinese Army at Hot Spring, Ladakh, on October 21, 1959, while they were on patrol duty along the border.
Sidhu and SSP Dr Nanak Singh, along with serving and retired police officers and the family members of martyrs, laid wreaths at the memorial to the martyrs.
