Four nabbed for September 4 petrol pump robbery
The Patiala police have arrested four accused while raids are on to nab the fifth one in the September 4 petrol pump robbery in which the accused managed to flee with Rs 33,000 cash. The police claimed to solved the case with the arrest of four of the accused, three of whom were petrol pump employees.
According to SSP Nanak Singh, two bike borne youths reached the Muradpura petrol pump late at night on the pretext of getting their bike refueled. “Suddenly one of the accused who was riding pillion, took out a sword and attacked the petrol pump employees and snatched Rs 33,000 from them,” he said.
A team headed by CIA incharge Shaminder Singh and Bahadargarh police post incharge Jaideep Sharma cracked the case within a few days with the arrest of the four accused identified as petrol pump employees Manpreet Singh, Simranjit Singh and Sandeep Singh. “Gurdeep Singh who was on the bike was also arrested, while efforts are on to nab Sahib Singh who is absconding,” said Shaminder.
The police said Sahib had a criminal background and separate teams had been formed to arrest him.
