Fatehgarh Sahib, July 18

District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman District Legal Services Authority Arun Gupta today held a meeting with all the judicial officers of the courts falling under Session Division Fatehgarh Sahib to review the arrangements ahead of the National Lok Adalat to be held on September 14 in all the District Courts and Sub-Divisional Level Courts of the district. He asked the judicial officers to encourage the concerned parties to settle as many cases as possible except serious criminal cases. He emphasised that efforts should be made to settle the cases pending in the courts as much as possible, and also to settle such disputes which were not tried before in any court. He also asked the judicial officers to refer the pending cases in the courts to the mediation center set up in the Samjhauta Sadan for speedy disposal.

Earlier, District and Sessions Judge held a meeting with various bank officers, insurance officers and officials of various other departments of the district to settle disputes related to their departments through this Lok Adalat. He appealed to the common people of the district to prefer settling their various disputes through this Lok Adalat. The judgment of the Lok Adalat has the same recognition as the judgment of the Civil Court. After the decision in Lok Adalat, all court fees incurred in that case gets refunded. He also said that the person who wants to file a pending case in this Lok Adalat can contact the judges of the concerned court and if the case is not pending, then he can give a written application to the secretary, DLSA.
