Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav has called for adopting a comprehensive approach for eliminating drugs. Reviewing the conviction of those caught in drug trafficking cases, she said the investigating officers of the police should be trained so that no drug trafficker was acquitted in court.

The DC was reviewing the joint strategy of the civil administration and police to make Patiala district drug-free in a meeting of the District-level Committee on Narco Coordination Centre Mechanism and Drug-Free India Campaign.

Yadav emphasised that the Patiala Police should rehabilitate those involved in the drug trafficking business in the 37 hotspot drug trafficking areas identified in the district.

She said chemist association should be taken along to stop the sale of drugs and continuous checking should be done.

The DC instructed the District Education Officers to give a certificate to each school, primary and senior secondary school, stating that no tobacco products or any other drugs are being sold within 100 metre the radius of the institution.
