Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research Minister Balbir Singh flagged off a marathon organised by the district administration to raise awareness on the “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign today.

The Health Minister urged students and the public that cleanliness should start from home and extended to the city, district, state and ultimately the entire nation.

He emphasised that everyone should come together to protect the environment by using cloth or jute bags instead of polythene ones.

He also urged children to maintain cleanliness to prevent dengue and advised them to regularly check water sources to eliminate mosquito larvae.

Dr Balbir Singh said the campaign would run until Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday on October 2, during which various programmes would be organised.
