Beant Singh roundabout road cries for attention
Patiala, October 18
The road at the Beant Singh roundabout has been broken for months altogether. The sewer water from a nearby area flows on the road towards the roundabout, which has largely damaged the stretch.
Water from the sewer line in the Choti Baradari area, which has remained clogged for long, flows on the road throughout the day. As a result, the area stinks and garbage strewn on the road aggravates problem.
Members of the Choti Baradari Market Development Association said they had written to the Municipal Corporation numerous times.
The association general secretary, Davinder Pal Singh, said, “We submitted a complaint to the MC regarding the overflowing sewer lines, which are of small size.”
“The sewerage of the 15-showroom PUDA complex has also been connected to the sewer lines of the Choti Baradari area, which has aggravated the problem,” he added.
An office-goer in the area said, “Two-wheelers skid when plying on the road. In the rainy season water collects in potholes and it becomes difficult to drive through the stretch.”
Municipal Corporation officials said they had plugged sewer water flowing on the road. Joint Commissioner Lal Vishwas said, “The MC will do patchwork on the stretch.” — TNS
