Agriculture dept cancels fertiliser dealer’s license over unauthorised stocking in Patiala
The Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, in a recent inspection, revoked the license of Sharda Agro Chemicals in Ghagga for unauthorised stockpiling of fertilisers.
Sharing details, Chief Agriculture Officer Jaswinder Singh said following the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Preeti Yadav, a district-wide inspection of fertiliser dealers was underway. During the inspection of Sharda Agro Chemicals, it was discovered that the firm held additional stock of urea and other fertilisers without updating its license. This unauthorised inventory violated the terms of their fertiliser license and Section 8 of the Fertiliser Control Order of 1985.
As a result, the firm's sales operations were immediately suspended, and its license has been officially cancelled.
DC Yadav reiterated that monitoring teams were continuously working across Patiala district to oversee the distribution of seeds, pesticides and fertilizers. She emphasised that any attempt to exploit farmers would not be tolerated, and warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found engaging in illegal practices.
