AAP govt trying to hijack MC poll: Youth Cong chief
Punjab Youth Congress president Mohit Mohindra today lashed out at the AAP government for forcibly stopping Opposition candidates from filing their nomination papers with the help of goons and the police.
Mohindra, who was
here to oversee the filing of nomination papers by Congress candidates, said some miscreants deployed by AAP allegedly snatched nomination papers from his hand and ran away.
He said some persons, allegedly with the help of the police, thrashed Opposition candidates at nomination centres and didn’t allow them to enter the building.
He alleged AAP was misusing police force and taking the support of anti-social elements to browbeat the Congress nominees.
The State Election Commissioner was not responding to calls made by the candidates who were not allowed to file nominations despit their documents being inorder.
He said AAP had played mischief in the Panchayat elections too.
Mohindra said fearing defeat, AAP was resorting to anti-democratic tactics to highjack the poll. He demanded immediate interference of the State Election Commissioner.
Meanwhile, the AAP leaders termed the allegations as baseless. “The Congress does not even have candidates willing to contest and therefore, trying to find reasons to level false accusations against our government,” they said.
