The Rajpura special cell of the Patiala police have foiled a gang which was being operated allegedly from behind the prison in Kapurthala and have arrested three accused. Police have claimed to have recovered three .32 calibre pistols, along with 26 cartridges and 20 grams of heroin from the accused.

Patiala SSP Nanak Singh said Rajpura special cell incharge Harry Boparai arrested Amritjeet Singh of Jalandhar, Akashdeep Singh of Kapurthala and Kamaldeep Singh of Phillaur. “The accused were operating on behalf of Prince Golu gang, led by brothers Prince and Onkar Singh Golu of Pandva village in Kapurthala district, who were involved in various criminal activities such as arms smuggling, attempt to murder and robbery etc. Currently Onkar and Prince were lodged in Kapurthala Jail from where they were in touch with these three,” he stated.

Acting on a tip-off Boparai and his team arrested the accused and their questioning would reveal how they were in touch with the two jailed inmates. “We will write to the authorities concerned to question the accused in detail; to ascertain how the two brothers were running criminal activities from behind the prison,” said Boparai.
