A three-day Zonal Youth Festival for Patiala Zone, organised by Punjabi University, Patiala, was inaugurated at Khalsa College, Patiala, with great enthusiasm. Harjinder Singh Dhami, president, Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, was the chief guest at the event. The first day of the festival was presided over by Mandeep Singh Sidhu, DIG, Patiala Range.

Principal Dharminder Singh Ubha welcomed the guests dignitaries and informed them about the various competitions to be held during this three day festival. He proudly said that Khalsa College was among the leading educational institutions in North India, with many students achieving significant accolades at both national and international levels in academics and sports.

Dhami emphasised the need to connect with religious values along with the knowledge of technological advancement.

DIG Sidhu said youth festivals helped showcase hidden talents of students and provided them with a platform for their skills. Punjabi singer Parmjeet Singh Sidhu stressed upon the importance of preserving traditional folk dances like Bhangra, Luddi, Jhumar and Giddha.

On the first day of the festival, Khalsa College, Patiala, secured the first position in Bhangra, followed by Mahindra College, Patiala, securing the second position, and Public College, Samana, bagging the third spot.

In the traditional folk song category, the first place went to the host, second to Government College for Girls, Patiala, and third to Punjabi University, Patiala. In the folk orchestra, the host won, followed by Public College, Samana, and Punjabi University, Patiala, in the second and third places, respectively. In the group shabad category, Punjabi University Campus, Patiala, got the first position, Khalsa College, Patiala, came second, while Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa College, Karhali Sahib, stood third.

In classical vocal, Khalsa College, Patiala, secured the first spot, Punjabi University, Patiala, got the second place, and State College of Education, Patiala, won the third position. In clay modeling, the first prize was by Punjabi University, Patiala, second was Khalsa College, Patiala, and third was State College of Education, Patiala. In rangoli, Guru Hargobind Sahib Khalsa Girls College, Karhali Sahib, came first, Khalsa College, Patiala, came second and Modi College, Patiala, came third. The host won the painting-on-the- spot event, followed by Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa College of Education, Dhano Majra, and State College of Education, Patiala, in the second and third spots, respectively. In installations, first prize went to Government College for Girls, Patiala, second to Khalsa College, Patiala, and third to State College of Education, Patiala. In cartooning, Punjabi University, Patiala, won, followed by State College of Education, Patiala, and Khalsa College, Patiala. In collage-making, Government College for Girls came first, Khalsa College, Patiala, came second and Modi College, Patiala, came third. In poster-making, the host stood first, the second position was bagged by Public College, Samana, while Government College for Girls, Patiala, came third. In mehndi, Government Bikram College of Commerce, Patiala, bagged the first place, followed by Guru Teg Bahadur Khalsa Girls College, Aakar and State College of Education.In photography, Jawahar Lal Nehru Government College, came first, Government College for Girls, Patiala, came second, while University College, Mirapur, came third. In the quiz, Public College, Samana got the first prize, Mahindra College, Patiala, came second, and Modi College stood third.
