Eminent gymnastics coach and former Deputy Director, Punjab Sports Department, Ravinder Kumar Rishi, passed away in Seattle, US, in the presence of his family.

Prominent sportspersons and senior officials held a prayer meeting organised in Rishi’s memory by the District Gymnastic Association at Gymnastic Hall, Polo Ground. District Gymnastic Association president Vikas Sabharwal, while paying tributes to the departed soul at the prayer meeting, said Ravinder Rishi was better known as ‘Gymnastic Guru’ in the Indian Gymnastic scene.

“He was a much devoted, dynamic and an able gymnastic coach who produced national and international gymnasts. With his loss, the city and the state has lost someone who would always keep in touch with the sport. Despite the fact that he was in the US from last some years, he would always come forward to help gymnasts and ensure facilities for the financially challenged gymnasts,” Sabharwal said.
