According to the complainant, around six to seven armed men fired gunshots and also damaged the car and the house in a late-night attack.

“It seems to be a political rivalry as the suspects had their faces covered and barged inside the house and wanted to attack us too,” said Sharma, who had recently joined the BJP, in her complaint.

Patiala MP Preneet Kaur also reached the house in the morning and alleged that such incidents were rising in the city due to the negligence of the police department. “Police have failed to maintain law and order in the district and they are not concerned about the lives of common people,” she alleged.

Kotwali SHO Sukhwinder Singh said that they had registered an FIR against unknown persons who had come in three vehicles and are suspected to be carrying a weapon, as seen in CCTV footage. “However, we are yet to ascertain if any gunshots were fired,” he said.
