“Hello, we are calling from the DC Office, Patiala. Do you need machinery for stubble management?” These words are being heard by the 63,000 farmers in Patiala district who have, either already harvested their paddy, or are about to do so in the coming days.

Sharing this information, Deputy Commissioner Dr Preeti Yadav said the district administration was making use of both traditional and modern techniques to ensure farmers had access to the necessary machinery for stubble management. As part of this initiative, a control room has been set up at the District Administrative Complex, where farmers are being informed about the ‘Unnat Kisan’ app and are also being given a platform to to book stubble management machinery.

She added that for those farmers facing issues in booking machinery through the ‘Unnat Kisan’ app were being assisted by the control room staff in booking their machinery. Farmers can contact the control room at 0175-2350550 for any assistance related to stubble management, she said.

The staff at the control room explained that in addition to handling machinery bookings, they were also monitoring stubble-burning incidents in the district via satellite data, which was passed on to the authorities concerned along with GPS locations, enabling appropriate action.

The DC shared that farmers were responding positively to the ‘Unnat Kisan’ app, which reflected their awareness and commitment to managing stubble and preventing pollution. She urged farmers to prioritise the use of the available machinery for stubble management.
