Para-athletes dazzled the spectators present at Guru Nanak Stadium with their exceptional skills and unwavering determination on the penultimate day of the 1st State-Level Para Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan being organised by the Punjab Sports Department with the help of the district administration, here on Sunday.

The highlight of the day was participation by AP Singh Somal, ADC, Rup Nagar, who won the gold medal in shot put event in F-53 category.

In the T-45,46 and 47 categories, in 1,500m race, Sarbjit Singh of Patiala proved his mettle by winning the first position while Sumit Kumar from Ludhiana and Joga Singh of Gurdaspur secured the second and third position, respectively.

In the 400m race, in the same category, Mithun (Hoshairpur), Amit Kumar (Fatehgarh Sahib) and Gurharman Singh (Sangrur) bagged top three positions.

In T-46 and 47 categories, Karandeep Singh of Ferozepur finished ahead of others to clinch the top position in the 100m race. He was followed by Simarjit Singh of Bathinda and Pardeep Singh of Barnala, respectively.

In the shot put event (F-54 category), Baljinder Singh (Muktsar) came out victorious while Ajit Kumar of Mohali finished second and Salwinder Singh of Muktsar secured the third position.

In F-42/63 category, in shot put event, Harjinder Singh (Moga) and Mohd Nadeem of Malerkotla secured the first and second position, respectively while Mangal Singh of Faridkot finished third.

In the long jump event, in F-44/62/64 category, the first three positions were annexed by Saleem Mohd (Patiala), Kulwinder Singh (Faridkot) and Raghvir Singh (Sangrur), respectively. Ashok Bedi, Chairman, BOCCIA, India was the chief guest while the Paris Para Olympics gold medallist in archery, Harvinder Singh and Mohd Yaseer, Asian Games medalist, were the guests of honour.
