PAP-Jalandhar triumphs in Vajra Punjab Hockey League
The inaugural season of the Vajra Punjab Hockey League-2024 concluded today with a grand closing ceremony at Katoch AstroTurf Stadium, Jalandhar Cantt. The league, organised under the aegis of Vajra Corps, aimed to promote sportsmanship, healthy living and community engagement across Punjab.
Lt Gen Ajay Chandpuria, GOC Vajra Corps, presided as the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
The final match was a face-off between the Punjab Armed Police (PAP), Jalandhar and Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala.
PAP emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win, securing the league title and a prize of Rs 2 lakh.
The closing ceremony included traditional Gatka and Khukri dances, symbolising the warrior traditions of the Indian army. Students from different schools and colleges also performed Bhangra and Rajasthani folk dances.
A street play on drug abuse was also staged to promote a drug-free lifestyle and community wellbeing. The final match was attended by sports dignitaries, players and hundreds of sports enthusiasts.
