Panipat police bust gang of online fraudsters; one held
The Panipat cybercrime police have busted a gang of online fraudsters and arrested one person from Jaipur in Rajasthan. The accused has been identified as Dinesh Kumawat, a resident of Sikar, currently residing in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
Giving details, Deputy Superintendent of Police (HQ) Satish Vats said that an FIR was lodged on December 6, 2023, on the complaint of Umed Singh, a resident of Naultha village. As per the FIR, the fraudster had changed the login ID and password of his Amazon seller account, and a total of Rs 5,70,000 was fraudulently withdrawn from it. The accused used a fake Gmail ID and forged SIM cards to execute the fraud.
After investigating various aspects of the case, the police arrested the accused, Dinesh Kumawat, on Monday from Jaipur. The accused holds an M.Com degree.
The DSP further informed that the accused confessed to committing the cyber fraud. Eight mobile phones, 30 SIM cards, 22 credit and debit cards and six stamps used in the crime have been recovered from his possession.
The accused was produced in a court on Tuesday, and the police obtained a two-day remand for further interrogation, the DSP added.
