A review meeting of the local funds accounts committee was held here today. The meeting was chaired by committee chairman Sanjay Ratna. Present at the meeting were committee members Satpal Satti, Keval Singh Pathania, Vivek Sharma and local MLA Ajay Solanki. The meeting focused on assessing the income-expenditure budgets and operational activities of various institutions, boards, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies and development authorities in Sirmaur district under the purview of the Himachal Pradesh State Audit Department.

The meeting addressed several longstanding financial discrepancies in the district’s departments, giving particular attention to pending audit objections that had accumulated over the years. During discussions, committee members emphasised on the need for prompt action to clear these objections and instructed officials to take steps to curb irregularities across various levels of administration.

To ensure that these issues were effectively managed, the committee directed Sirmaur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sumit Khimta to meet department heads and resolve pending cases by December 31. Chairman Sanjay Ratna reiterated the committee’s commitment to ensure transparency and maintain efficiency, while emphasising on the need for collaboration between local legislators and officials to promote sustainable development.

“Good governance is the foundation of growth. It is only through cooperation and accountability that we can bring meaningful progress to Sirmaur,” said Ratna.

Besides, the committee reviewed the current performance of several departments in the district. While expressing satisfaction over certain initiatives, the committee noted areas where improvement was necessary and encouraged departments to adopt best practices for administrative and financial efficiency.

The committee members stressed that the objective of the meeting was to ensure that the people of Sirmaur receive benefits of the government’s development schemes.

Sharing similar sentiments, MLA Ajay Solanki expressed his commitment to fostering a culture of accountability in public institutions. He said addressing financial matters would improve public services and enhance trust between the government and the people.

Sirmaur Superintendent of Police (SP) Raman Kumar Meena, all Sub-Divisional Magistrates and heads of various departments were also present at the meeting. Their participation underscored the collaborative approach needed to resolve district-wide issues.

In conclusion, today’s review meeting reflected a unified effort toward addressing longstanding financial challenges in Sirmaur. With an end-of-year deadline set for resolving outstanding cases, the committee aims to create a transparent administrative structure, improve governance and support the district’s development agenda. The meeting signified a step forward in addressing inefficiencies and ensuring that benefits of government schemes reach the grassroots level in Sirmaur district.
