Panchkula DC issues notice to company over poor cleanliness

A day after she joined, Panchkula Deputy Commissioner Monika Gupta swung into action on Thursday. She visited various offices at the district administrative complex and took stock of the ongoing work and problems being faced by visitors.

Having received complaints regarding the lackadaisical functioning of the company responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the toilets at the complex, the DC said the administration had issued the company a show-cause notice. She said people were facing issues related to the Postal Department in the receipt of licences and registration certificates and assured them she would resolve the matter at the earliest.

The DC directed the city magistrate to ensure proper cleanliness of toilets at the Mini-Secretariat. She said, “All the toilets at the complex should be cleaned. The system should be maintained on a routine basis. The contractor should complete this by Monday.”

Talking to mediapersons, she said the administration was issuing a show-cause notice to the contractor and would blacklist the company in case the negligence persisted.

The DC also visited the tehsil office and Saral Kendra and reviewed the arrangements there. She collected information about the ongoing work at the kendra from residents who had come to get their works done.

Opens office for residents between 11 am and 1 pm

The DC said people could come and meet her on any working day between 11am and 1pm. “No person should have to make rounds of the office for any work,” she said.

Will form team to stop illegal mining: Gupta

On being asked about the ongoing illegal mining in the district, Gupta said the administration would soon form a task force in coordination with the mining department. “Strict action will be taken against those involved in illegal mining,” she said.

She also said special focus would be laid on women’s empowerment and education in the district. “Separate schemes will be made for women in the Kalka and Panchkula areas,” she said.

Directs MC to act against illegal hawkers

The DC directed the Municipal Corporation Commissioner to take continuous action to remove illegal hawkers from the roads in the city. On the question on stray animals, she said the administration would make arrangements to shift stray bulls that were roaming on roads to cow shelters. She said the administration would hold awareness programmes at schools and colleges to curb the tendency toward drug addiction.

“Proper care of the elderly, living in old age homes built in Panchkula city, will be ensured. For this, special emphasis will be given on proper arrangements in the Red Cross, Municipal Corporation’s old age home. The old age home being built in Mata Mansa Devi will also be completed as soon as possible,” she said.
