Director Rural Development and Panchayat has suspended a Panchayat Secretary for not issuing NOCs to candidates for the panchayat elections.

The erring Panchayat Secretary, identified as Balwinder Singh, posted at Block Development and Panchayat Office in Ferozepur, did not issue NOCs to several border village candidates.

Later, BDPO Ferozepur Gurdial Singh wrote a letter to the ADC Development complaining about the conduct of Balwinder Singh. As per the letter written by the BDPO, Balwinder was found absent from office from September 27 due to which the candidates belonging to border villages had to face problems. The BDPO wrote to the ADC (D) that he had ordered all the Panchayat Secretaries to remain present on duty. But Balwinder allegedly did not comply with the instructions. In his letter, the BDPO had asked for strict action against Balwinder.
