Palampur farm varsity holds agroforestry programme

Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur, organised a one-day camp in Moulichak village through the All-India Agro-forestry Coordinated Project by the Focused Agro Forestry Research Centre, Jhansi. During the camp, wheat and oat seeds, along with fertilisers, were distributed to local farmers.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Naveen Kumar emphasised the importance of farmer trust for the success of university projects, urging farmers to actively seek information from the university and consult experts about their farming challenges.

Project Principal Investigator Dr Rameshwar highlighted the project’s 2019 launch aimed at developing Scheduled Caste communities in Moulichak and Bandbhyaar villages. The initiative provides farmers with advanced seeds, fertilisers, fruit plants, and barbed wire, alongside training on agronomic practices, which has reportedly doubled or tripled farmer incomes.
