Paedophile gets life term in Gurugram

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Ashwini Kumar sentenced a paedophile and serial killer, Sunil, to life imprisonment for raping and killing a 6-year-old girl after kidnapping her in the Civil Lines area in 2017. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs 2.5 lakh on the convict. The Legal Services Authority has been asked to give a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the victim.

Sunil was also arrested in 2018 during a probe into the rape and murder of a three-year-old girl. He had killed at least 15 persons in the past seven years. He had confessed to raping and murdering at least three girls in Gurugram between 2016 and 2018.

Anju Rawat Negi and Kulbhushan Bhardwaj from Farishte Group — a social organisation — advocating the issues of rape victims girls free of charge, said the girl’s father had lodged a complaint on January 6, 2017, stating that his 6-year-old daughter had gone missing, Later, he body was found in a water tank at Drona Park (Rajiv Chowk). He confessed to having raped and killed many girls. “Strong evidence and witnesses were also presented in the court to provide justice to the innocent child. Finding that the charges against the accused were true, the court had last week declared the accused guilty,” said Bhardwaj.
