Dr DS Rana, a Padma Shri awardee and a nephrologist at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi, honoured students at the DAV School annual function held here yesterday.

Dr Rana said the school students’ performance was commendable, and he was astonished to see the students of the area performing with utmost confidence and diligence.

It was important for the students to refrain from being addicted to mobiles phones, he added. He said it was necessary to empower girls in all fields of life so that they could face challenges with courage and confidence.

Dr Rana, who is also the chairman of DAV’s local managing committee, added that the management would make all efforts to improve infrastructure and facilities at the school.

Central Board of School Education Regional Officer (Panchkula Zone) Shekhar Chandra was the special guest at the event.

During the function, Mahendra Singh Thakur read the annual report of the school while the students presented colourful cultural performances. Dr Rana awarded meritorious students for their achievements in various activities throughout the year, including academics, sports and cultural events.
