Paddy procurement woes: Procurement reviewed in Fatehgarh Sahib district
Finance Secretary Vijay Namdevrao Jade who has been appointed in-charge for Fatehgarh Sahib district to supervise the procurement of paddy by the State Government, along with Deputy Commissioner Sona Thind, today reviewed the lifting of grain in all 32 procurement centres of the district.
He directed the procurement agency officials to speed up the process and ensure simultaneous lifting of paddy purchased in district markets. He urged the officials to keep in touch with rice mill owners personally to ensure that they start lifting paddy so that there was no hindrance in the procurement process.
He said if the officials faced any problem in the markets regarding the paddy procurement process they should be immediately bring it to the notice of the Deputy Commissioner so that the issue can be solved at the earliest.
DC Sona Thind said most rice millers of the district had signed contracts and started lifting paddy. She said 1,70,681 MT paddy has arrived in the district till today and of this 1,59,260 MT had been procured and 58,091 MT paddy lifted. The payment to the tune of Rs 330.27 crore had been made.
Earlier, the Finance Secretary, along with the DC, inspected PTMs at a couple of government schools in Fatehgarh Sahib.
