Paddy procurement began in Mohali district on Monday, with mandis in Kurali, Dera Bassi, Lalru, Tasimbli and Jarout witnessing a flurry of activity.

Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain assured the farmers and commission agents of smooth and seamless purchase of crops across the district mandis. Appealing to the farmers to bring the dry paddy to the mandis, she said the district administration would ensure that there was not any inconvenience to the farmers, commission agents and labourers henceforth.

The DC said crop would be procured by the agencies without any hiccup, provided the farmers took care of the moisture conditions laid by the Government of India.
