Ownership rights of agri land to be recorded on inheritance basis: L-G
Lieutenant-Governor (L-G) VK Saxena on Tuesday announced that the ownership rights of agricultural land in urbanised villages of the Capital will be recorded on the basis of inheritance.
Officials said Saxena had highlighted that this demand had been raised in every village he visited.
The mutation of agricultural land emerged as the primary concern during the Samvaad organised at Raj Niwas, where residents from villages across Delhi had gathered.
A delegation of all seven Members of Parliament from Delhi also met the L-G.
“Today is the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the day will go down as a historic day for the villages of Delhi. From today onwards, mutation of agricultural land in the urbanised villages of Delhi, based on inheritance, will be conducted by revenue authorities as it used to be done earlier,” said the L-G.
He further added that camps would be set up in villages this week to initiate the process. The event also witnessed the launch and inauguration of several projects under the Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyan (DGA).
Saxena had laid the foundation stone of 41 new projects and inaugurated seven others across 18 villages in North-West Delhi.
The DGA, launched in December 2023, aims to provide better amenities in rural areas. Since its inception, 573 projects worth Rs 523 crore have been sanctioned, with Rs 960 crore transferred to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for developmental works across various villages.
