Over 82 kg of cocaine seized
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking syndicates, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) seized 82.53 kg of high-grade cocaine from Janakpuri and Nangloi areas, officials said on Friday.
The operation stemmed from leads developed during earlier seizures in March and August 2024. Officials said, “The investigation began with the recovery of a parcel from a courier shop in Delhi, which was destined for Australia. Using the backtracking method, the NCB traced the shipment to its origins, uncovering the bulk quantity concealed in Delhi.”
An official said the syndicate operates through a network of individuals based abroad, employing advanced methods to evade detection.
“Our investigation has revealed that the syndicate uses hawala operators and pseudo names for day-to-day conversations related to drug dealings. The individuals involved are mostly anonymous to each other, ensuring minimal exposure within the network,” the official added.
So far, two main operatives have been arrested. “We have arrested two persons, one from Delhi and another from Sonepat, believed to be key players in the syndicate. Further investigations are ongoing to trace both the backward and forward linkages of this drug network,” the official noted.
The agency has also indicated plans to collaborate with foreign drug law enforcement agencies to identify the source of the seized cocaine.
