Over 40 villages in Chamba covered under SC scheme

Officials in Chamba district have been directed to speed up projects under the Prime Minister’s Scheduled Castes Abhiyudaya Yojana.

Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Amit Mehra chaired a meeting organised in this regard at the district headquarters on Tuesday.

He informed attendees that 46 villages from Chamba district were included under the scheme. Of these, 14 are from the Chamba development block, 13 from Tissa block, nine from Mehla, 6 from Salooni block and four from Bhattiyat block. Ten of these villages were included in FY 2018-19, 27 in 2019-20, and nine in 2022-23.

Officials discussed development indicators related to the scheme — including drinking water and sanitation, education, health and nutrition, social security, rural roads and housing, electricity and clean fuel, livelihood and skill development, agricultural practices, financial inclusion, and digitisation in targeted villages.

Mehra instructed the officials and employees of the Rural Development Department, along with public representatives, to ensure the quality of development work under the scheme. He also told them to make adequate arrangements for maintenance of these projects.

Prior to the discussion, District Welfare Officer Chaman Lal presented a report on the progress of the scheme in the district. District Programme Officer (ICDS) Rakesh Kumar, Lead District Manager DC Chauhan, Primary Education Deputy Director Gyan Chand and heads, secretaries and non-government members from various panchayats attended the meeting.
