Over 15K cases settled in Hoshiarpur Lok Adalat
The District Legal Services Authority, Hoshiarpur, organised the fourth National Lok Adalat of the year in the district on Sunday.
District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Dilbag Singh Johal said a total of 19,985 cases were heard in the Lok Adalat, out of which 15,968 cases were settled on the spot and awards of Rs 49.10 crore were passed.
This Lok Adalat covered criminal compoundable offences, cases under Section 138 of NI Act, cases related to bank recovery and money recovery, labour disputes and motor accident compensation (MACT), public utility services (disputes related to electricity and water bills), matrimonial disputes, traffic challans, revenue matters and service matters, including pension, etc.
District and Sessions Judge Dilbagh Singh Johal and Secretary of District Legal Services Authority Raj Pal Rawal inspected all benches of Lok Adalat.
During this, President of Bar Association, Hoshiarpur, Ranjit Singh provided support.
CJM-cum-Secretary District Legal Services Authority Raj Pal Rawal said a total of 26 benches were formed in Hoshiarpur district.
Out of these, 11 benches were set up in Hoshiarpur Court, four in Dasuha, three in Mukerian and two in Garhshankar.
Apart from this, six benches were formed for revenue court.
He said the police department set up special help desks for traffic
challans.
