Out of hospital, Dallewal to be back at Khanauri border
Succumbing to the pressure by farmers agitating at the Shambhu and Khanauri borders, BKU (Sidhupur) state president and SKM (Non-Political) leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal was today discharged from the DMC Hospital, Ludhiana.
He was detained and taken to the hospital by the police from the Khanauri border on Tuesday morning ahead of his indefinite fast in support of the farmers’ demands.
After receiving information about Dallewal’s discharge from the DMC Hospital, a team of SKM (Non-political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha leaders, including Sarwan Singh Pandher, departed for Ludhiana to bring him to the morcha site at the Khanauri border.
The information about the discharge of Dallewal from the hospital was shared by ADGP Jaskaran Singh (Retd) at a meeting held with farm leaders at the Khanauri border in the afternoon. Patiala range DIG Mandeep Singh Sidhu said the meeting between farm leaders and the police authorities was held in a cordial atmosphere.
After the meeting, BKU (Sidhupur) general secretary Kaka Singh Kotra said their plan to gherao CM Bhagwant Mann’s residence at Sangrur on December 1 was still on.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and the state government decided to release Jagjit Singh Dallewal from the “custody” due to the farmers’ pressure, Kotra claimed. It was a victory of the people, he added.
Pandher said Dallewal’s detention by the government was condemnable. The state government’s decision to let go Dallewal was due to the pressure created by farmer unions, he added.
ADGP Jaskaran Singh (Retd) said Dallewal was taken to the hospital in view of his health issues. He said today he talked to the Commissioner of Police (CP), Ludhiana, about Dallewal’s health. The CP later informed him that doctors were satisfied with the health condition of Dallewal so they had discharged him from the hospital. Now, he would return to the Khanauri border with farm leaders, he added.
