One dead as car veers off road, plunges into gorge in Mandi

One person was killed while another was injured after the car they were travelling in plunged into a deep gorge near Niyul in Mandi district on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Thakur Das, a resident of Khalada in Mandi, while the injured is Devi Singh.

Singh, who was driving the car, sustained minor injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.

According to the police, the car veered off the road near Niyul on the Ghran-Shivabdar route in Mandi, plunging approximately 100 m down the slope. Mandi SP Sakshi Verma said the police had registered a case at the Sadar police station, adding that further investigation was underway.
